Introduction:
It is very important for a health and wellness professional to
develop psychologically, spiritually and physically. A professional is not very
helpful to others if they are in psychologically, spiritually and
physically need themselves. Developing in an integral health and wellness program
will keep the health and wellness professional in health, happiness, and
wholeness. With the health and wellness professional in health and happiness
and wholeness, they are able to rely and work with their patients.
My areas that I need to develop are meditation / prayer and exercise.
I do not take the time to mediate or exercise daily. I need to start out slowly
with both and then increase them weekly to improve.
Assessment:
I assess my health as being in good standings. For my physical
health, I am a little over weight and my thyroid is not completely healthy but
the rest of me is good. If you ask me my psychological health is also good. There
are days when the stress gets a little high at work but I still am in good
health. My spiritual health is also good with anything you always have room to
grow.
Goal
development:
My goal for my physical health is to exercise and eat healthier.
My goal for spiritual health is to continue with prayer and supplication with
my God the Father and creator of all things. My goal for my mental health is to
let my God the Father keep my heart and mind in good health, as I meditate with
him I will have good medicine.
Practices
for personal health:
The strategies that I can implement to foster growth in Physical,
Psychological and Spiritual are; Physical- eating properly and on schedule with
a balanced meal, Spiritual- continue praying and spending time with my God, Psychological-
using the loving kindness and subtle mind exercises. Exercising will help with each
one of them will.
Commitment:
In the next six months I will assess my progress by keeping a chart or journal of my prayer and meditation, eating habits and exercise. The long term practices for health and wellness is to continue to keep a journal or chart of what I am doing with my whole health and wellness. When keeping a journal it gives you the reason to continue in exercise and eating properly. When you see it on paper it makes you realize what you are eating and how much exercise you are doing. When you are eating correctly and exercising with prayer/ mediation your health and wellness stays in good health.

Hi Mary
ReplyDeleteI am also like you that I do not take time to practice meditation to help calm, relax and declutter my mind and I really need to because my life is so chaotic right now and this would definitely help to provide me with some sense of stability. I believe having goals is extremely helpful and creating a chart so that one can keep track of where they stand not only keeps one motivated but on track and able to see progress. I know it can also give a sense of accomplishment when goals are met as well as more self-esteem. It sounds like you are on your way to total integral health, keep up the good work!
Hi Mary, I know for me I will be so glad to be done with college next year, get a job, and hopefully reduce the stress I am under. Exercise, working on my spiritual growth, and achieving a "quiet mind" are some of my goals. Eating a lot more healthy is also another goal of mine, as I really need to lose weight, so you keep on track and possibly we all will succeed.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary! I enjoyed your final project...your six month commitment seems reasonable and like something you will be able to achieve and maintain. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your final project. I like your suggestion of keeping a journal on your progress. I too need to lose some weight and am having difficult in finding the time to exercise. And I know in the past, whenever I do exercises I am able to clear the stress out of my mind and body.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your success.

I think we all experience some stressful days in our lives. What is important is that we are able to pull it together and function at our highest ability in spite of our stress. I like what you wrote about keeping a journal. I believe that journals are excellent ways of tracking process. They can also serve us as a reminder of our goals. As a matter of fact, I might use your idea and get a journal of my own! I wish you continued success in all of your endeavors.
ReplyDeleteMary, I've really enjoyed following your blogs this term. I believe that no matter your religious beliefs, prayer is essential for spiritual growth. It seems that you and I have very similar goals for our integral growth practices. Do you think you might continue with your blog? I've really enjoyed doing our blogs more than I thought I would and I think I'm going to continue doing it. Good luck with your adventures!
