Unit 10

Well this is my last blog for this class. I am not sure if I will continue with the blog. It was not as hard as I thought it might be. It has been fun to do the blog. I have enjoyed reading all of my class mate's blogs.

My personal assessment in Unit 3 I gave myself a 7 in all, psychological, physical, and spiritual well-being. I really have not change in the past few weeks but I have started to develop some ways to arrange my schedule to be able to have time to work on all of the areas. I will start with the spiritual and physical first. I have found in past history if I get my spiritual life in order the rest comes easier. I need to exercise more and changing my schedule will give me time to exercise. I will be finished with my Bachelors degree in 11 more weeks and this will free several hours in a week.  Taking time out of my busy week to relax and smell the roses is in my future.

Unit 9 Project

Introduction:

It is very important for a health and wellness professional to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically. A professional is not very helpful to others if they are in psychologically, spiritually and physically need themselves. Developing in an integral health and wellness program will keep the health and wellness professional in health, happiness, and wholeness. With the health and wellness professional in health and happiness and wholeness, they are able to rely and work with their patients.
My areas that I need to develop are meditation / prayer and exercise. I do not take the time to mediate or exercise daily. I need to start out slowly with both and then increase them weekly to improve.

Assessment:

I assess my health as being in good standings. For my physical health, I am a little over weight and my thyroid is not completely healthy but the rest of me is good. If you ask me my psychological health is also good. There are days when the stress gets a little high at work but I still am in good health. My spiritual health is also good with anything you always have room to grow.

Goal development:

My goal for my physical health is to exercise and eat healthier. My goal for spiritual health is to continue with prayer and supplication with my God the Father and creator of all things. My goal for my mental health is to let my God the Father keep my heart and mind in good health, as I meditate with him I will have good medicine.

Practices for personal health:

The strategies that I can implement to foster growth in Physical, Psychological and Spiritual are; Physical- eating properly and on schedule with a balanced meal, Spiritual- continue praying and spending time with my God, Psychological- using the loving kindness and subtle mind exercises. Exercising will help with each one of them will.

Commitment:

In the next six months I will assess my progress by keeping a chart or journal of my prayer and meditation, eating habits and exercise. The long term practices for health and wellness is to continue to keep a journal or chart of what I am doing with my whole health and wellness. When keeping a journal it gives you the reason to continue in exercise and eating properly. When you see it on paper it makes you realize what you are eating and how much exercise you are doing. When you are eating correctly and exercising with prayer/ mediation your health and wellness stays in good health.

Unit 8 Review the Exercises and Practice Sessions

In reviewing the exercises and practice sessions I felt the loving kindness and subtle mind was the best. The loving kindness and subtle mind were the two exercises that I have benefited the most. The loving kindness meditation exercise reminded me of my prayers which are something I do regularly.  I am trying very hard to take the time to just stop and meditate. My life is busy and trying to find the time is not the easiest thing to do. I am hoping that I can slow down at work and have some extra time to stop and meditate to help the calming and peace in my life.

Unit 7

I was not real pleased with this week’s meditative practice. This reminded me of talking to or allowing familiar spirits to guide you. So the scriptures that I remembered from the Bible came to mind.

Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God. Leviticus 19:31

Isaiah 8:19 When they say to you, "Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter," should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?

I can pray to my God and I do not need to bring to mind or make up someone to guide me, such as the wise one.

The saying from p 477 of our text, Consciousness and healing, “One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself”. This is a two fold saying when applying to the health and wellness professional. A health and wellness professional is one that is to help their clients though different stages of their lives. If a health and wellness professional has not gone though this stage of live they may have a different outlook on the problem or if they have never dealt with a death that was very close to them, the professional may be at a lose. Also the professional is to be able to help, so they would need to have an insight of how to help. You as a health and wellness professional has an obligation  to develop your health psychologically, physically, and spiritually.

Unit 6 Loving -kindness exercise

The loving kindness meditation exercise reminded me of my prayers. I usually take the time to pray for my family and friends that I know are in need. There so many people that I know that are need of healing or just encouragement. I know my God is capable of putting his arm around you and giving you the encouragement that you need. When you are thinking of others your needs seem smaller.

When I stop to rest in ease and stillness I automatically think of my daughter and her family. I do not get to spend the time with them that I have in the past. My life is in need of physical exercise and time for my daughter and her family. I am working and going to school full time and the time I spend with my family is not the amount of time I like to be with them.  I am almost fished with school and then the extra time will help.

Subtle  Mind and loving kindness Unit 5

The video for the subtle mind was very relaxing as all of the others. I have trouble just stopping and listening to the whole video. When I stop my mind and body I fall asleep.  I really feel that we are to busy in this world today.  We are either going to work, going to a function, eating or sleeping. We do not just stop and enjoy what is around us. We need to exercise our mental fitness and help our bodies heal with our minds going deep into the unity consciousness to unite our mind, body and spirit.

Unit 4 Loving Kindness

The loving kindness meditation was very interesting. We do  not take time to stop and think about our self. We are so busy taking care of others. I would recommend this to others because I think we need to give time and relaxation to our self. Our life's are to busy and we rarely just stop and enjoy life, such as, just sit and let the early morning sun shine in our faces or listen to a bird singing.

Our mental workout is just letting our mind work out the trash and hectic life . Our work out can help with the psychological health. Hence with mental health in wellness then the body health will be in wellness. We do have to stop and let our mind clear and think upon good things.
